Free Rolling to Start at Titan

Starting this Sunday, March 21, free roll sessions will meet each Sunday at 2 pm.  Titan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Bill Algeo, will be supervising the sessions.  You are invited to roll with other classmates and students from other classes to improve your ground game.  These session are free of charge.  We look forward to seeing all of you this Sunday at 2 pm.

Titan appears in Daily Collegian Story

The Daily Collegian, Penn State University’s student newspaper, did a story on the merger between Lionheart and Titan Fitness & Martial Arts.  It also got into the future of how the “conglomerate” is going to expand to become four clubs with the most notable and immediate being the Downtown Athletic Club, formerly the site of Titan Fitness & Martial Arts.  The link is below.  Enjoy.

Titan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Official Start

Titan’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class will officially kick off on Tuesday, March 16 at 8 pm.  Classes will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 pm to 9 pm and Friday from 5 pm to 6 pm.  Classes will be taught by Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt, Bill Algeo.  Free lessons are available for anyone new to BJJ or for existing students of Titan.  Call us at 814/235-1015 or email us at info@titanfitness.com to schedule your free lessons.  We welcome you to join us in this exciting new chapter at Titan Fitness & Martial Arts.

Future Titan Born on Christmas Day

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts would like to congratulate Titan mixed martial arts student, Tom Seifried and his wife on the birth of their first child on December 25 at 4:45 pm. Their son and future Titan, Jameson Walter Seifried was born weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz. at a length of 20 inches.  Tom reports that everyone is doing great despite the lack of sleep for the new parents.  Congratulations to the Seifrieds on this blessed event.

Youth Class Cancelled

Youth Jeet Kune Do class will not meet today, Wednesday, December 9 due to the weather.  As a rule, we do not have youth classes when school is cancelled due to weather.

Titan Announces Early Enrollment Free Lesson Schedule

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is now inviting future members to schedule their free introductory lessons in December for enrollment in our Spring 2010 classes.  Completing your free lesson now ensures your spot in our popular classes and gives you a free gym membership in December leading up to the start of your class in January.

The following is our initial schedule starting during the week of December 7, 2009.
Mixed Martial Arts:  Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 5 pm
Women’s Kickboxing:  Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 7 PM
Boxing:  Thursday, December 10, 2009, 6 PM

Other free lessons will be available later in December and throughout the months of January and February.

Schedule for the Week of November 23, 2009

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts will be open during normal hours and conducting regularly-scheduled classes for the rest of this week. Due to the Thanksgiving break next week (the week of November 23), Titan will have youth Jeet Kune Do on Monday only with no adult classes meeting for the entire week. The gym will close at 8 pm Monday and Tuesday. Titan will close at 6 pm Wednesday and remain closed until Monday, November 30 when we will resume normal hours and classes. We hope you all enjoy your break and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Titan Number

The Titan Number is a way to evaluate your level of fitness through this standardized format of very challenging exercises. There are two ways to use the test. If you are a beginner or have only been doing Titan Elite Training for a short time, you will want to utilize the “E-Lite” option of evaluation. If you have been training for a while and can meet the minimum standards of the Elite evaluation, utilize the more challenging version of the Titan Number test. Your Titan Number is the total number of repetitions for each of the exercises in the exact order and for the exact time prescribed below. You must finish the test is a maximum of ten minutes. Track your Titan Number over the months and years of your training as a means of tracking your progress. If you want to have your score published, send it via email to paul@titanelitetraining.com.

Guidelines:
- 10 Minutes Maximum Time to Complete
- Rest should be kept to 1 to 2 minutes between movements
- 5 Movements must be completed for the prescribed amount of time
- 5 Movements must be completed in the exact order as listed below
- Basic requirements must be utilized as listed below

Men’s Elite Number
1. Thrusters x 95 lbs. for 30 seconds
2. Chins x 1 Minute
3. Box Jumps (minimum 24”) x 1 Minute
4. Seated Double Crunch x 1 Minute
5. Burpees x 1 Minute

Women’s Elite Number
1. Thruster x 65 lbs. for 30 seconds
2. Horizontal Body Rows x 1 Minute
3. Box Jumps (minimum 18”) x 1 Minute
4. Seated Double Crunch x 1 Minute
5. Burpees x 1 Minute

Men’s E-Lite Number
1. Thrusters x 65 lbs. for 30 seconds
2. Horizontal Body Rows x 1 Minute
3. Box Jumps (minimum 18”) x 1 Minute
4. Seated Double Crunch x 1 Minute
5. Burpees x 1 Minute

Women’s E-Lite Number
1. Thruster x 45 lbs. for 30 seconds
2. Body Rows x 1 Minute
3. Box Jumps (minimum 12”) x 1 Minute
4. Seated Double Crunch x 1 Minute
5. Burpees x 1 Minute
