Titan to Host BJJ/MMA Seminar

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is proud to be hosting a one-day seminar with TIM CARPENTER a martial artist for over 12 years, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, and an undefeated Professional Mixed Martial Artist. The seminar will take place Sunday, April 25 from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The 1 to 3 pm session will be Gi training. With the 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm session comprising of No-Gi training. Tim has been a Pan Am BJJ champion, a Gracie National and Arnold Classic BJJ Champion, and a NAGA and Grappler’s Quest Champion. Additionally, he has won both state and Junior National Judo Championships. In 2007, he was an ADCC competitor, an international competition involving professional athletes who have been successful at the highest levels of jiu-jitsu, wrestling, judo, sambo, shooto, and mixed martial arts. The seminar offers four hours of instruction with a two-hour Gi session and a two-hour No-Gi session. This seminar is reasonably priced at $50/student for both sessions. Students may train in either one of the two sessions for only $25. Register with us as soon as possible as spots are limited. Titan Hires New Wrestling Coach

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is proud to announce the addition of Tyler Saltsman to our staff as Titan’s new Wrestling coach. Tyler is a four-time state champion from New Hampshire. He is a former Penn State wrestler who is now going to pursue an MMA career through his training at Titan. With the addition of Tyler, the mixed martial arts program becomes even more enhanced as he brings a wealth of knowledge to improve every student’s ground skills. Tyler Saltsman started wrestling in 6th grade losing only three matches during his middle school career while capturing two state titles and a New England title. Tyler went on to win state titles in all four years of high school becoming only the second wrestler in the history of the state of New Hampshire to be a four-time state champion. Tyler was also a New England champion and was the only wrestler ever in his school’s history to win 50 straight matches in one season. Tyler compiled a high school record of 168-9 and was a high school All-American. Tyler was also honored with selection into the High School Wrestling Hall of Fame. Tyler selected Penn State to pursue his college wrestling career. He redshirted at Penn State during his freshman year and my sophomore year. After his sophomore year season Tyler won a wrestle off and started for the Nittany Lions posting a winning record until deciding to leave the team to pursue his MMA career at Titan where he also serves as the Titan Wrestling coach. The ProgramBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport and a form of self-defense that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting. BJJ instruction emphasizes the use of ground techniques, submission holds such as joint locks, and body positions. Students will train both gi (uniform) and no-gi. BJJ has become the most prominent grappling style in the sport of mixed martial arts such as the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and Strikeforce. As students improve, they can achieve rank and train for competition in both submission grappling and mixed martial arts. Future Titan Born on Christmas Day

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts would like to congratulate Titan mixed martial arts student, Tom Seifried and his wife on the birth of their first child on December 25 at 4:45 pm. Their son and future Titan, Jameson Walter Seifried was born weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz. at a length of 20 inches. Tom reports that everyone is doing great despite the lack of sleep for the new parents. Titan Announces Early Enrollment Free Lesson Schedule
Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is now inviting future members to schedule their free introductory lessons in December for enrollment in our Spring 2010 classes. Completing your free lesson now ensures your spot in our popular classes and gives you a free gym membership in December leading up to the start of your class in January. The following is our initial schedule starting during the week of December 7, 2009. Other free lessons will be available later in December and throughout the months of January and February. Titan to Host Erik Paulson Seminar Oct 24 & 25

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts will be hosting an Erik Paulson seminar October 24 & 25. This seminar marks the third year in a row that this living mixed martial arts legend has come to State College. Erik Paulson was a two-time light heavyweight shootwrestling champion. Following his fighting career, Mr. Paulson founded the fighting system Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW), one of the few complete mixed martial arts systems in the world today. It combines all elements of MMA to include boxing, Thai boxing, clinching, takedowns, and submissions. Mr. Paulson has had a tremendous influence on the present day mixed martial arts community training such notable fighters as Sean Sherk, Josh Barnett, James Wilks, and present UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar. Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is proud to be the only facility in Central Pennsylvania certified to teach Mr. Paulson’s amazing mixed martial arts fighting system. If you are interested in mixed martial arts, we encourage you to attend this amazing seminar. Prices are $150 for both days and $80 for one day of training. Titan Fitness Fall 2009 Schedule
Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is proud to announce its new schedule for the Fall 2009 semester. The fall schedule goes into effect on Monday, August 24 for existing students with beginning classes to start the week of August 31. Introductory free lessons for new students will get underway during the week of August 17 and will continue throughout the months of August, September, and into the early part of October. Free lessons can be scheduled by calling the gym at 814/235-1015 or emailing us at info@titanfitness.com. The following is a list of changes that have been made to the Fall 2009 schedule. 1. The youth martial arts classes will meet from 6 PM to 7 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays starting on Wednesday, September 9. 2. An intermediate mixed martial arts class will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 and will serve as a preparatory class for the advanced mixed martial arts. All students who have completed the beginners MMA and Thai boxing beginners class qualify for this section. 3. Speaking of the advanced MMA class, it will move to the Monday and Wednesday 4:30 to 6 PM time slot to accommodate the new youth class schedule. 4. There will not be a no-gi grappling program due to the fact that we are including the grappling into all sections of the mixed martial arts programs. 5. Due to the exclusion of the no-gi grappling class, the vacated time slot is now being made available for sororities to have their own sections for women’s kickboxing. Special rates will be available on a per student basis for the sorority women’s kickboxing. Interested sororities should contact us as soon as possible as these slots are limited. 6. The Filipino martial arts class will be moved to 5 PM to 6:30 PM. The present women’s kickboxing and boxing sections will remain the same for the fall semester. To see the fall schedule, click here.
