Youth Martial Arts classes resume Tuesday, September 6 at 6:30. They will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30.
We are pleased to announce the hire of our new youth martial arts instructor, Osahon Omo-Osagie (“Os”). Os has been the boxing II instructor for Titan for the last year and now will bring his martial arts knowledge and infectious energy to our youth program.
Os has been an NCBA champion boxer at Lock Haven, collegiate coach at both Lock Haven and Penn State, competitive Thai boxer, MMA student (certified under Bruce Lombard, Titan MMA Director and Coach Level II in CSW), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student, and now professional boxer. Additionally, Os has been involved with the area youth in both before and after school counseling and developmental programs. He is also the father to a five-year old son.

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts MMA students train in MMA pioneer Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling, one of the most complete mixed martial arts systems in the world. Titan students achieved rank in CSW over the past month. We congratulate Todd Fuller, Tyler Higgins, and Shawn Slater for being promoted to Student Level 4, Mike Putnam and Tyler Saltsman for advancing to Student Level 3, and to new students Steve Kaczowka and Seth Kimmel on achieving their Student Level 1 certifications. They should all be proud of their accomplishments.

This seminar marks the fourth year in a row that this living legend and mixed martial arts pioneer has come to State College. Erik Paulson was a two-time light heavyweight shootwrestling champion. Following his fighting career, Mr. Paulson founded the fighting system Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW), one of the few complete mixed martial arts systems in the world today. It combines all elements of MMA to include boxing, Thai boxing, clinching, takedowns, and submissions. Mr. Paulson has had a tremendous influence on the present day mixed martial arts community training such notable fighters as Sean Sherk, Josh Barnett, James Wilks, and present UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar.
Titan Fitness & Martial Arts is proud to be the only facility in Central Pennsylvania certified to teach Mr. Paulson’s comprehensive mixed martial arts fighting system. Osahon Omo-Osagie (“Os”) is the Boxing II instructor for Titan Fitness & Martial Arts. In addition, Os will be taking over as the youth martial arts instructor in the Fall 2011.
Os has been involved with the sport of boxing for over ten years. He boxed for four years in college at Lock Haven University. In that time, he earned two All-American awards, three regional championship titles, a National Runner up title, and in his final year, he won the 2004 National Collegiate Boxing Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. After that, he competed in the amateur ranks until deciding he was ready to turn pro. In pursuit of his dream, he moved back to New York City to train at Johns Gym in the Bronx for two years where he worked with world class professional boxers. Since then, Os has returned to State College where this past summer, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a professional boxer.
Os has been involved with martial arts for a large part of his life. He presently is a certified student under Bruce Lombard in Combat Submission Wrestling, the MMA system created by pioneer, fighter, champion, and coach, Erik Paulson. Os also studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Thai Boxing. He has competed and was victorious in his debut as a Thai boxer last fall.
As a coach, Os was hired as an assistant coach of the University of Lock Haven. In his second year of coaching, Lock Haven won the team National Championship. He later started coaching at a local fitness club he trained over 20 students. He served as an assistant coach for the Penn State University Boxing Team for the last two years and will continue in that capacity in the coming season.
Along with his impressive martial arts/boxing participant and coaching resume, Os has been involved with the a before and after school child development and family counseling program in area elementary schools. Previous to that, he ran his own boxing program for adults and at-risk youth in the Lock Haven, PA area for two years. He is also a very active father to a five-year old son.
Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) Founder and Mixed Martial Arts Legend, Erik Paulson conducted a two day seminar at Titan Fitness & Martial Arts in State College on October 24 & 25. This marks the third consecutive year that Mr. Paulson visited Central Pennsylvania to teach his brand of mixed martial arts, arguably the most complete MMA system in existence. Students from Titan Fitness, Virginia, New York, and other schools in Pennsylvania attended the two-day seminar. Titan Fitness & Martial Arts will be hosting another Erik Paulson seminar November 13 & 14, 2010.
