New Era in Youth Martial Arts Begins September 6

Youth Martial Arts classes resume Tuesday, September 6 at 6:30.  They will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30.

We are pleased to announce the hire of our new youth martial arts instructor, Osahon Omo-Osagie (“Os”).  Os has been the boxing II instructor for Titan for the last year and now will bring his martial arts knowledge and infectious energy to our youth program.

Os has been an NCBA champion boxer at Lock Haven, collegiate coach at both Lock Haven and Penn State, competitive Thai boxer, MMA student (certified under Bruce Lombard, Titan MMA Director and Coach Level II in CSW), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student, and now professional boxer.  Additionally, Os has been involved with the area youth in both before and after school counseling and developmental programs.  He is also the father to a five-year old son.

Titan Fitness: Learn MMA and Muay Thai From The Most Experienced Coaches and Fighters in State College/Penn State Area.

Titan Fitness offers the opportunity to all new and existing members to learn, train, and team with the most experienced and competition tested MMA and Muay Thai staff in the State College and Penn State University region.  All Titan Fitness instructors have not just talked about it, they have actually tested themselves in competition in one or both of these combat sports. Head MMA and Muay Thai instructor, Bruce Lombard, is a Level 2 Coach under Combat Submission Wrestling(CSW) fighting system founder and MMA former World Champion, Erik Paulson. Coach Lombard also has Muay Thai ring experience. Assistant Instructor’s include:   Tyler Higgins, Muay Thai and MMA fighter;  Tyler Saltsman, MMA fighter; Mike Putnam, Muay Thai and MMA fighter; Shawn Slater, Muay Thai fighter; Kristen Althouse, Muay Thai fighter; Allison Glenny, Muay Thai fighter.

Titan Fitness: Successful MMA and Muay Thai Fighters In State College, PA

Titan Fitness and Martial Arts continues to be the leader in the State College and the Centre region for MMA and Muay Thai development. Team Titan, located in downtown State College(127 Sowers Street), has developed over a dozen competitve amateur MMA and Muay Thai fighters in the last four years.  These dedicated athletes have combined for a 19-9-3 overall record against strong fighters from Philadelphia and Boston, and gyms from Deleware, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. 

Team Titan, training within Titan Fitness & Martial Arts will continue to test their skills, knowledge, and goals in competition.

Osahon Omo-Osagie

Osahon Omo-Osagie (“Os”) is the Boxing II instructor for Titan Fitness & Martial Arts.  In addition, Os will be taking over as the youth martial arts instructor in the Fall 2011.

Os has been involved with the sport of boxing for over ten years.  He boxed for four years in college at Lock Haven University.  In that time, he earned two All-American awards, three regional championship titles, a National Runner up title, and in his final year, he won the 2004 National Collegiate Boxing Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. After that, he competed in the amateur ranks until deciding he was ready to turn pro.  In pursuit of his dream, he moved back to New York City to train at Johns Gym in the Bronx for two years where he worked with world class professional boxers.  Since then, Os has returned to State College where this past summer, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a professional boxer.

Os has been involved with martial arts for a large part of his life.  He presently is a certified student under Bruce Lombard in Combat Submission Wrestling, the MMA system created by pioneer, fighter, champion, and coach, Erik Paulson.  Os also studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Thai Boxing. He has competed and was victorious in his debut as a Thai boxer last fall.

As a coach, Os was hired as an assistant coach of the University of Lock Haven.   In his second year of coaching, Lock Haven won the team National Championship.  He later started coaching at a local fitness club he trained over 20 students.  He served as an assistant coach for the Penn State University Boxing Team for the last two years and will continue in that capacity in the coming season.

Along with his impressive martial arts/boxing participant and coaching resume, Os has been involved with the a before and after school child development and family counseling program in area elementary schools.  Previous to that, he ran his own boxing program for adults and at-risk youth in the Lock Haven, PA area for two years.  He is also a very active father to a five-year old son.

Titan Fitness(State College, PA) Muay Thai Fighter’s Compete in Philadelphia, PA

Titan Fitness, located in downtown State College, sent four of their amateur Muay Thai athletes to fight in Philadelphia at the renowned “Evolved Fighting” Thai Boxing event.  Steve Mayzack, Jay Kearns, Mike Putnam, and Tyler Higgins fought some tough competition against opponents from Boston, Philadelphia, and Reading.  Collectively the fighter’s, who have been training with Bruce Lombard at Titan for less than one year, had an impressive showing going 2-1-1.

Mayzack, Putnam, and Kearns are all Penn State University students, as Tyler Higgins is a college student at Lock Haven University.

Titan Fitness Spring 2009 Testing

Titan Fitness is pleased to congratulate Gareth Peoples, Dave Pilla, and Tom Seifried on passing their Combat Submission Wrestling Provisional Student Level I test on April 30, 2009.  The testing was based on the Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) curriculum set forth by CSW Founder, Sensei Erik Paulson.  Titan Fitness Mixed Martial Arts instructor and CSW Certified Coach, Bruce Lombard administered the test.  Titan Fitness applauds the efforts of these three fine students during the Spring 2009 semester.

Titan Fitness & Martial Arts Program Director and Head Instructor Bruce Lombard has launched his own website, www.lombardmma.com.  This site is a tremendous resource for anyone interested mixed martial arts.  It includes MMA techniques, instructional dvd reviews, Titan fighter news, and previews of upcoming MMA events.  Whether you are a member at Titan Fitness or an MMA enthusiast, you will find this site to be informative and a place you will want to visit frequently.
